Dynamic Alarm Management
Eliminate alarm flooding and unnecessary alarms with Agileops
Alarm Philosophy Services means that Emerson performs both company and site Alarm Philosophy assessments. The Alarm Management standard requires customers to have a documented record of processes that defines the objectives of the alarm system and governing of the work process and standards for alarming.
Emerson can perform alarm assessments by analyzing alarm data and identifying areas for improvement for the customer. A report is available based on customer data and provides recommendations based specifically on the site alarm performance. The customer’s event chronicle data is processed to produce an alarm analysis. From that analysis, Emerson creates a report of the customer's current alarm performance and compares the site's alarm KPI’s against the industry standards (KPI’s as defined by ISA 18.2). The report identifies areas for improvement and provides methodologies to remediate poor alarm performance e.g. alarm rationalization and nuisance alarms elimination.
Alarm Management ensures that the correct alarms responses are announced to the operator at all times. This includes all modes of process operation. With effective Alarm Management and a well-maintained alarm system, customers can avoid alarm floods and change the alarm system from being a nuisance during process upsets to a valuable tool to the operations staff. Alarm information can be presented to the operator in ways that aid the operator to correctly respond to alarms and thus, reducing operator fatigue and errors.
