wel-lok WSO
Seals unwanted water in oil & gas wells
The wel-lokTM WSO (Water Shut Off) tool developed by BiSN provides a permanent downhole isolation solution to reduce unwanted water production from wells. It utilizes a thermite chemical reaction heater to melt a proprietary bismuth alloy that flows into the annular space and wellbore, sealing off water production.
The key features of the technology are:
- Bismuth alloy flows like water through screens and proppant without damaging the completion
- Provides isolation across the entire wellbore including annulus
- Single trip gravity deployment without pumps or squeeze
- Quick setting within hours, ready for immediate pressure testing
- Suitable for open and cased hole gravel packs, slotted liners, etc.
- Can seal in damaged or irregular wellbores
- Withstands high temperatures up to 160°C and pressures up to 11,650 psi
- Environmentally friendly with reduced intervention footprint
The wel-lok WSO allows operators to reduce water handling costs, increase oil production, extend well life, and lower environmental impact in a cost-effective single-trip intervention. Over 450 successful global deployments demonstrate the effectiveness and reliability.
