Mobile inspection system for hazardous industrial areas

Page last modified
April 7 2025

Valve Sense for Ex Zones is a mobile and explosion-proof inspection system designed to detect internal leaks in valves located in hazardous areas. The system is delivered in a hard product shell case containing the following components:

1. i.safe MOBILE Smartphone IS540.1: An explosion-proof smartphone for use in hazardous environments.

2. IS-VS1A.1 Measuring electronics: The core component responsible for collecting and processing acoustic emission data from the valves.

3. Two acoustic emission sensors and a wave guide: Used to capture and transmit acoustic signals generated by internal valve leaks.

4. The Senseven App: An application that enables valve inspection, live monitoring of RMS and dB values, as well as live audio playback. It also includes an Expert Suite for advanced analysis.

5. Senseven Backoffice: A software platform for structured storage of measurement data, automated reporting, and further analysis.

The system is certified for use in hazardous areas, complying with ATEX and IECEx standards. It is designed to help industries identify and quantify through-valve leakage before it can cause severe damage to assets, product loss, safety risks, or environmental contamination. By enabling efficient and reliable valve inspections, the Valve Sense for Ex Zones system aims to reduce maintenance costs and improve operational efficiency in various industries, including chemical, pharmaceutical, oil and gas, steel, food and beverage, and others.

Pros & Limitations
1
Enables mobile inspection of valves for internal leakage in hazardous areas
1
Instant results in the field
1
Handheld, user friendly and intuitive interface
1
Does not require extensive training for usage
1
Seamless integration to a cloud-based platform (Backoffice) for additional insights and instant report generation
0
Pressure differential the valve is needed to detect leaks. In cases of little to no pressure differential, the smallest leaks become difficult to identify
