Soluble Lead Flow Battery (SLFB)
A safe, sustainable, affordable battery for stationary energy storage
SoLead Energy aims to develop and manufacture the Soluble Lead Flow Battery (SLFB), aiding the transition to net zero by delivering a safe, recyclable solution for large-scale energy storage for stationary applications. Examples include integrating renewable generation such as solar and wind, i.e. using the battery to provide power when there is no solar or wind, then recharging when the wind starts blowing or the sun is shining. The SLFB stores energy in lead dissolved in a safe, non-flammable, water-based electrolyte. The system is completely circular, with materials that can be sourced from spent lead-acid batteries, and at end of life, it can be recycled using existing, scaled processes.
