Reflex® The Scotsman
Hydraulically-set anchor for securing liners and bottom hole assemblies
Reflex® The Scotsman, also known as the Scotsman Hydraulic Set Anchor (SHSA), is a downhole tool designed to secure liners and bottom hole assemblies in both cased and open hole environments. Its key features include:
1. Large contact area: The tool utilizes bi-directional slips with a large footprint, ensuring high anchoring force while minimizing contact pressure on the formation or casing.
2. Compact design: Despite its large contact area, the Scotsman is short in length, allowing it to navigate through tight dog legs and other restrictions in the wellbore.
3. Anti-preset mechanism: This feature prevents premature setting of the tool until a predetermined differential pressure is achieved.
4. Hydraulic setting: The SHSA is fully set by applying a minimum differential tubing pressure for 30 minutes once at the desired depth.
5. Versatile release mechanisms: The tool incorporates a pull-to-release feature with adjustable shear values that can be set at the surface prior to running in hole. This can be replaced with alternative release methods such as cut-to-release, shift-and-pump-to-release, or punch-and-pump-to-release.
6. High anchoring force: The design ensures a secure hold in the wellbore.
7. Low pressure applied to formation: This feature helps maintain wellbore integrity.
The Scotsman is part of Reactive Downhole Tools' Reflex® product range, which focuses on providing solutions for open and cased hole completions, wellbore construction, and other downhole applications. Its versatility and performance characteristics make it suitable for various wellbore conditions and operational requirements.
