Rigless Repairs of SCSSV / DHSV, Wellheads, Threaded Connections, Packers, Subsea Control and Wellhead Systems

Page last modified
October 31 2023

Seal-Tite have successfully repaired over 1000 subsurface safety valve systems in both subsea and on dry tree applications. Wellheads seals such as casing and tubing hangers have been repaired over 1500 times.

Pressure activated sealants only polymerise at the leak site on differential pressure forming a flexible solid repair. The remainder of the sealant is the system remains liquid. This means the SCSSV system can use the unpolymerised sealant as part of the hydraulic control system and wellhead systems can be pressure tested after the repair.

Applicable in Subsea and Dry Tree environments

Pro/con

Early Resumption of Production
Significantly More Cost Effective than Mechanical Repair
Suitable for Subsea as well as Dry Tree Environments
SCSSV can be operated as normal after a repair
Repaired Wellhead voids can be tested after the repair
Rigless
Long Term Repair
Not a LCM solution
Limited Application in Corrosion Leaks - e.g. break through in

Specification

Pressure rating of repair Up to 22000psi
Temperature Up to 500F / 260C

Seal-Tite use pressure activated sealants to repair leaks in oilfield equipment without the need for a rig or mechanical intervention.

The company was formed over 25 years ago and has documented thousands of repairs in equipment such as SCSSV control line, tubing and casing hangers, casing threads, subsea pipelines, pig launcher ball valves, subsea valve actuator, packers, production wing valves in all the major oil basins of the world.
