microTEMP

microTEMP is a wireless, non-intrusive temperature monitoring system developed by Sensor Networks, Inc. It is designed to measure and monitor temperature levels in industrial applications, particularly in the petrochemical and downstream oil & gas sectors. The system consists of three main components: the microTEMP sensor, a wireless receiver/gateway, and the webPIMS data analysis software.

The microTEMP sensor is an intrinsically safe, battery-powered device capable of measuring temperatures ranging from -40°F (-40°C) to 1,112°F (600°C). It utilizes LoRaWAN wireless technology, a long-range, low-power wide-area network protocol, to transmit temperature data to the gateway. The sensor is designed to be non-intrusive, meaning it can be installed externally on equipment without disrupting operations.

The wireless receiver/gateway collects data from multiple microTEMP sensors and transmits it to the webPIMS software for storage and analysis. The webPIMS platform allows users to monitor temperature trends, set alarm thresholds, and receive real-time alerts via email or SMS if temperatures exceed predefined limits.

The key features of the microTEMP system include continuous temperature monitoring, automatic data logging, long battery life (up to 10 years), easy installation, the ability to monitor multiple points simultaneously, and real-time alerts. It offers a cost-effective alternative to intrusive, wired thermocouples, enabling companies to optimize their operations, ensure process quality, and maintain safety standards.
