Automated system to detect, locate and quantify methane emissions

Page last modified
August 22 2025

MethaneTrack™ is an automated emissions monitoring system designed to detect, locate, and quantify methane and methane-blend leaks. The system consists of multiple endpoints, a gateway, and an anemometer deployed at each monitored site. The endpoints, which can be installed quickly without wiring, sample the surrounding air to measure gas concentrations. These devices are certified as Intrinsically Safe (Class 1, Div. 1 and Zone 0) and feature a 5-year battery life and 15-year sensor life.

The system utilizes Close-Proximity Continuous Monitoring™ technology, enabling immediate detection and precise measurements due to the endpoints' proximity to potential emission sources. The MPS™ (Molecular Property Spectrometer) technology powers highly accurate detection with a range from 50 to 1M ppm, incorporating built-in environmental compensation for temperature, humidity, and pressure to minimize false positives.

Data from the endpoints is encrypted and transmitted to the cloud, where proprietary Leak Source Isolation™ algorithms analyze it alongside wind data from the anemometer. This analysis pinpoints leak locations and quantifies leak sizes. The system's dashboard analytics and reporting platform visualizes the data and automatically alerts relevant personnel to emission events.

MethaneTrack™ offers real-time emissions measurement data, simplified regulatory compliance through customizable reports, and improved operational efficiency. It can distinguish between operational and fugitive emissions and provides comprehensive historical records to support various regulatory requirements. The system is also available in an EmissionsTrack™ version for multi-gas leak detection applications, including hydrogen.
