High-performance tactical grade IMU for precise 3D navigation solutions

Page last modified
July 21 2025

The IMU-ISA-100C is a high-performance tactical grade Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) designed for use with SPAN (Synchronized Position Attitude Navigation) technology. It combines Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) positioning with inertial navigation to provide a continuous 3D position, velocity, and attitude solution, even during periods of satellite signal blockage.

The IMU-ISA-100C features Northrop-Grumman Litef GMBH's inertial measurement technology, utilizing fiber optic gyros and temperature-compensated MEMS accelerometers. It operates on 10-34 VDC power and interfaces with GNSS receivers through a reliable IMU interface. The device can compute blended GNSS+INS solutions at rates up to 20 Hz.

Key performance specifications include gyroscope input range of ±495 deg/sec, in-run bias stability of ≤0.05 deg/hr, and angular random walk of 0.012 deg/√hr. The accelerometer range is ±10 g, with in-run bias stability of ≤100 μg. The IMU-ISA-100C is optimized for hydrographic survey and marine applications, offering high accuracy and performance at an affordable price point.

The device is commercially exportable and non-ITAR, making it accessible for various applications. It integrates easily with Veripos LD900 receivers and Quantum visualization software. The IMU-ISA-100C's robust design meets military standards for humidity and vibration, with an IP67 rating for environmental protection. Its compact dimensions (180 x 150 x 137 mm) and weight of 5.0 kg make it suitable for various integration scenarios.
