Hybrid Safety Valve Straddle System
Isolates safety valve control line
The Hybrid Safety Valve Straddle System is an innovative downhole intervention tool developed by Oilenco to overcome limitations of traditional wireline retrievable subsurface safety valve (WRSSSV) systems. It features a unique dual isolation bore seal system to provide superior sealing capability.
The straddle is deployed on slickline into the wellbore and lands at the safety valve nipple no-go. It contains upper and lower expanding seals connected by a mechanical linkage. During setting, the seals are expanded simultaneously into the seal bores of the safety valve, isolating the control line. This "under gauge" design protects the seals during run in.
Once set, the control line can be purged of gas by pumping fluid through a lower wiper seal and out an upper exit port. This ensures a clean hydraulic system. The safety valve can then be opened by pressuring up the control line.
The simultaneous dual seal expansion provides reliable isolation even in damaged seal bores. The straddle is compatible with most major OEM safety valves. Its innovative sealing system and ability to purge gas makes it a superior solution for re-establishing control of wireline retrievable subsurface safety valves.
