Friction Flowmeter
Flow and physical property measurement solution for complex fluids
The Friction Flowmeter is a patented hybrid measurement solution that provides real-time Reynolds number corrected mass and volume flowrates, density and viscosity of the flowing fluid. It is based on differential pressure measurement technology and has been designed to solve the measurement challenges associated with very high viscosity liquids.
Using a mixture of technologies allows for a modular approach to solve end user measurement issues. In one iteration, a differential pressure primary element is combined with ultrasonic sensors to provide a solution to flow, density and viscosity in one meter body. Another iteration focusses on estimating water cut of oil and water mixtures. And a wholly DP flow based unit has been tested on a non-Newtonian fluid e.g. drilling mud.
The Friction Flowmeter has the flexibility solve difficult measurement challenges in complex fluids.
