Ultra-efficient, low-emission energy conversion for decentralized power and heat generation

Page last modified
September 15 2025

Mitis has developed a unique flameless combustion microturbine for energy conversion. This technology is disruptive due to its flameless nature, which produces extremely low emissions while offering industry-leading fuel flexibility. The microturbine utilizes a patented flameless combustion process that minimizes emissions regardless of the fuel used. It can achieve NOx emissions of less than 10 ppm, which is about 5 times lower than a typical natural gas furnace.

The microturbine is truly multi-fuel capable, able to run on biogas, natural gas, diesel, gasoline, ethanol, and propane. Future testing is planned for hydrogen and ammonia fuels as well. This fuel flexibility makes it a highly sustainable energy solution for various applications.

Key features include a maintenance cycle of 12,000 hours, enabled by an oil-free design using air and foil bearings. The system can be remotely monitored to quickly detect and resolve issues. Mitis offers the microturbine in two main configurations - the Micro-10 standalone unit and the Micro-10 CHP (Combined Heat and Power) which integrates an ultra-efficient gas to water heat exchanger.

Applications for this technology include off-grid power generation, range extension, microbiomethanisation, and collective building heating. The microturbine's compact size, low emissions, and fuel flexibility make it particularly suited for decentralized energy conversion in various settings.
