Exploration Analyst
Petroleum play, mineral & carbon storage assessment made easy
Exploration Analyst is an extension software for Esri's ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro that helps energy companies make better exploration decisions through advanced assessment techniques. The software specializes in petroleum play analysis, mineral exploration, and carbon capture and storage (CCS) prospectivity using industry best practice play-based exploration methods.
The tool allows users to combine proprietary, vendor, and public domain data to create comprehensive geological assessments. Key capabilities include generating play chance maps to identify exploration fairways and sweet spots, creating favourability maps for CCS aquifers and mineral targets, and validating these maps against actual well results. Users can analyze basin and play activity, estimate yet-to-find volumes, and rapidly screen acreage to prioritize blocks and leases while assessing competitor positions.
Exploration Analyst operates at the play or aquifer level rather than individual prospect level, helping discover previously unseen exploration opportunities. The software creates individual chance of success layers for separate geological elements including reservoir, trap, and seal factors. These layers can be constructed from hard data or conceptual sketches and combined into comprehensive geologic play-chance models.
The platform improves communication between teams and disciplines by providing fully auditable results through summary reports and maps.
