Advanced ultrasonic testing for CUPS at height with QSR1 system

Applus+ RVIS delivers in-service inspection of CUPS at height without the need for scaffolding. The latest ultrasonic technology and the in-house developed remotely operated lift allows semi-automated inspection of CUPS at height. Our system uses QSR (quantitative short range) device to provide quantitative information on the remaining ligament. Both internal and external degradation can be detected and, in principle, sized, such as touchpoint corrosion under pipe supports (CUPS), erosion, corrosion and mechanical damage to the pipe. The device automatically measures the size of corrosion to the depths of up to half of the pipe wall thickness. Results are automatically analysed and reports can be readily generated. With this inspection service, Applus+ RVIS offers to combine remote visual screening of CUPS at height and use ultrasonic testing only where deemed necessary to measure wall thickness.
