Rapid assembly structural steel building system for efficient construction

Page last modified
June 18 2025

The ConX® System is a Flexible Modular Structural Steel building system designed for rapid assembly and construction. It utilizes a standardized "kit of parts" approach with tapered, "lower & locking" steel connections that enable safe and quick assembly without field welding. The system comprises three main variants - ConXR, ConXL, and ConXL+, each suited for different building heights, bay sizes, and applications.

The ConX System features prefabricated components and revolutionary connections that allow for faster and safer erection compared to conventional steel construction. It employs lean-inspired repeatable processes in fabrication, achieving high precision and quality. The system is AISC codified and approved by regulatory agencies.

Key components include ConX Beam Assemblies, Column Assemblies, Collar Assemblies, standard egress stairs, elevator support steel, and edge closure. The system also facilitates integration of MEP systems and exterior skin systems.

ConX can be used throughout a building's primary frame as a Special Moment Frame (SMF) or Flexible Moment Connection (FMC), and can be supplemented with ConX Gravity Connections or other lateral force resisting systems for a hybrid approach. The standardized connections and interfaces create a "System of Systems," enabling simple integration of other modular parts in both physical construction and digital design environments.

This modular approach allows for architectural flexibility while simplifying BIM and enabling early design integration. The system's efficiency results in assembly rates ranging from 4,000 to 15,000 square feet per day, depending on the specific ConX variant used.

ConXtech is a company that specializes in structural steel building systems. Founded in 2000, the company invented the ConXR 200 System and later developed the ConXL 400 System. ConXtech's innovative approach to construction has led to several milestones, including the completion of large-scale projects in record time, such as a 210,943 square foot structure assembled in just 21 days. The company has expanded its portfolio to include various sectors like healthcare, data centers, retail, and industrial projects. ConXtech's systems have gained recognition and certifications, including pre-qualification by OSHPD for California hospitals and Cradle to Cradle certification. The company has also established a global presence with international certified fabricators and has delivered over 10 million square feet of structures. ConXtech continues to grow, with recent expansions including a new headquarters in Pleasanton, CA, and the opening of a facility in Woodland, CA.
