CHIMERA™ Brush
Heavy duty wellbore clean-up brush for scrubbing casing debris
The CHIMERA™ Brush is a heavy-duty wellbore clean-up tool designed for effective casing cleaning in all downhole conditions. It features stainless steel crimped wire brushes that safely scrub the casing wall to remove residual cement, scale, and other debris. The brush is typically run in a Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA) above a casing scraper, complementing hard scraping with robust scrubbing action.
The tool's design includes centralizers that guide and centralize it within the casing. Brush segments are arranged in tightly packed blocks, allowing for fluid bypass without packing off. These segments flex when entering the casing, acting as self-sprung components. The brush segments are securely held in dove-tail grooves to prevent them from coming loose downhole.
A key feature of the CHIMERA™ Brush is its non-rotating design, which incorporates high-performance alloy bronze bearings with both axial and radial elements. This allows for extended rotation in harsh environments without causing wear to the tool or casing. The brush is typically reciprocated three or more times across the critical depth while rotating and reciprocating the string.
The CHIMERA™ Brush is versatile, suitable for pre-completion wellbore clean-up, workovers, sidetracking, abandonment, and drilling or milling cement plugs. It can be run separately or as part of a comprehensive wellbore clean-up operation, effectively preparing the casing wall for packer setting and mitigating premature elastomer failure.
