CHIMERA NR-MAG™
Robust non-rotating wellbore clean-up magnet for removing ferrous debris
The CHIMERA NR-MAG™ is a robust, non-rotating wellbore clean-up magnet designed for effective removal of ferrous metal debris from wellbores in various downhole conditions. It can be run independently or as part of a comprehensive wellbore clean-up bottom hole assembly (BHA), typically positioned above casing scrapers and brushes to complement their hard scraping action.
The tool features a non-rotating NR-MAG™ sleeve with interchangeable centralizers that guide and center it within the casing while allowing extended rotation without wear. The external ribbed design incorporates integral rare earth magnets arranged to create defined flow paths for well fluids, capturing ferrous debris as it passes through. These magnetized ribs also prevent collected debris from being dislodged during circulation or tripping.
Key features include high-performance alloy bronze bearings with both axial and radial elements, enabling extended rotation in harsh environments without damaging the tool or casing. The tool's robust design and large debris capacity make it suitable for various applications, including pre-completion clean-ups, workovers, sidetracking, abandonment, and drilling/milling cement plugs.
The CHIMERA NR-MAG™ is available in different sizes to accommodate various casing weights and can be fitted with standard or high-temperature magnet inserts. Its design allows for interchangeability with UNI-BLADE™ scrapers and CHIMERA BRUSH™ tools, enhancing its versatility in wellbore clean-up operations.
