CHIMERA BOP Jetting SUB
Dislodges debris from BOP ram cavities, annular and wellhead areas
The CHIMERA BOP Jetting SUB is a specialized tool designed for cleaning blowout preventers (BOPs) and wellheads in oil and gas operations. Its primary function is to dislodge debris that can accumulate in BOP ram cavities, annular spaces, and wellheads during drilling activities. This debris accumulation occurs due to sudden drops in fluid annular velocity and can potentially interfere with completion operations, such as setting packers or installing tubing hangers.
The tool features replaceable jetting nozzles and a dart-activated shearable sleeve that allows on-demand opening of jetting ports. It can be configured with various external diameters to accommodate different surface and subsea BOP stacks. The BOP Jetting SUB can be integrated into a comprehensive wellbore cleanup string or short-tripped into the well as needed.
During operation, the tool is positioned at the BOP or wellhead depth. An activation dart is dropped to land on the shearable sleeve, and pressure is applied to shift the sleeve, enabling circulation through the jetting nozzles. The recommended jetting procedure involves pumping at 10 BPM while slowly rotating the string, making three passes across the BOP stack and wellhead. For the annular section, a reduced circulation rate of 5 BPM is advised to prevent damage.
The CHIMERA BOP Jetting SUB is available with API and premium thread connections and maintains a full through-bore for circulation. It is designed to withstand high tensile and torsional loads, with specific technical specifications varying based on the tool's dimensions.
