PlanSea, which offers world-leading marine logistics artificial intelligence (AI) technology
AI-based Optimisation, Digitalisation, Cost & Emissions Reduction - Subsea Decommissioning & Marine Logistics
Application of Digitalisation & Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Reduce Costs and Emissions, Enhance Visibility and Facilitate Collaboration
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is now entering all aspects of life. As part of that, the energy sector is about to see major changes in how work is carried out as the capabilities of AI are realised and deployed. The race is on.
As an example, PlanSea has well-developed AI capability for modelling and optimising marine logistics and now offer an AI-based subsea decommissioning strategic planning and operations capability - minimising project costs and emissions on a standalone, collaborative campaign or even basin-wide scale.
We ingest operational activity data and create predictive models that provide comprehensive forecasts of organisational KPIs, supporting planning and decision-making, stress testing and quick consideration of alternative plans and scenarios.
Our bespoke consultancy approach facilitates complex scenario planning, cost and resource efficiency, organisational stress testing and can also underpin investment decisions and resource deployment.
Benefits
The global decommissioning market has many challenges including a potential scarcity and increasing cost of marine resources to conduct operations.
Additionally, the scale and complexity of projects – exacerbated by the commercial and Net Zero drivers for collaborative decommissioning programmes – creates a problem unsolvable by spreadsheets and individual reasoning.
Based on years of experience in the field, PlanSea has developed an AI-based subsea decommissioning optimisation software solution to quickly and comprehensively address these challenges resulting in cost, emission and project duration reductions on a standalone, collaborative campaign or even basin-wide scale.
Functionality :
PlanSea has developed an approach to support efficient and comprehensive strategic planning of subsea decommissioning. Functionality includes :
- Integration with decommissioning risk assessment and strategy development to support strategic planning
- Automation of campaign task definition from subsea asset geojason data
- Automated campaign planning
- Planning support for collaboration/large campaigns
- Emissions forecasting
In addition, the software produces operational visualisation and a dashboard approach to projects.
Our Overall Objectives :
- Subsea Decommissioning and Marine Logistics Optimisation
- Emissions & Cost Reduction
- AI-based Strategic Fleet/Resource Planning & Subsea Decommissioning Optimisation
- Digital Transformation with Enhanced Visibility
- Facilitation of Collaborative Projects
Operational Benefits :
- Digital transformation of subsea decommissioning and marine logistics
- Real-time visibility/input capability for designated stakeholders
- Easy and quick evaluation of future fleet/resource requirements
- Stress testing of operational scenarios
- Budgeting & Emissions Forecasting
- Integrated and interactive suite of applications – ‘Control Tower’
- Facilitates collaboration between operators - both in the subsea decom and marine logistics sectors (vessel sharing, fleet pooling, etc)
- Online platform for new business model(s)
HSE Benefits :
- Emissions reduction - by using Artificial Intelligence to optimise operations
- Enhances Health & Safety - reduces risk/exposure through minimising vessel time at sea
- Emissions visibility, reporting, forecasting and options evaluation in-built
Other Applications :
- P&A collaborative programmes
- Offshore renewables
- Aviation (Helicopter) optimisation
- Facilitation & Optimisation of multi-user high value equipment/resource utilisation
Other Opportunities
The transformational opportunities for AI solutions are substantial and the potential prizes are real, however successful delivery in a complex technology ecosystem is often best achieved through integration and partnership. Accordingly, and in order to maximise the benefits for participants in Technology Catalogue, PlanSea would like to invite discussions aimed at identifying areas of synergy and providing the market with game-changing applications.
We are open to approaches aimed at :
- Collaboration
- Partnership/JV
- Generally accessing our expertise
- Providing access to other geographic areas
- Helping add value to existing services and clientbases
- Accessing other market sectors
Background :
Development work on these applications has been supported by the NZTC, RGU, NSC, Scottish Enterprise, BP, CNOOC and Equinor with later input from TotalEnergies, all of whose assistance is greatly appreciated. The Short-Term Vessel Capacity Sharing and Digital Daily Lookahead applications are standalone products delivered via SaaS. They can also be part of the integrated marine logistics suite that includes Strategic Fleet Planning/Optimisation using Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based optimisation.
Functionality includes evaluation of standalone and collaborative multi-operator marine logistics operations with integrated cost & emissions forecasting alongside scenario stress-testing.
The subsea decommissioning application has been developed to meet challenges evident in the market.
All applications are aimed at addressing digitalisation, optimisation, emission/cost reduction and enhanced visibility needs in the sector whilst at the same time offering the potential for new business models.
