Utilization of Robotic Solutions to Enhance Plant Integrity & HSE in the Refineries

The challenge is to validate the technologies’ features and capabilities through field trials, using inspection and gas testing techniques to enhance plant integrity and improve HSE by mitigating direct risks to personnel. The case involves Vessel Gas Testing in an opened condition. The vessel is located in a hazardous area of the plant and contains highly flammable hydrocarbons, requiring a gas test before opening the manway for maintenance when the unit is out of service. Traditionally, this gas test is performed manually by operators. 

We are looking for a robot to replicate this process by entering the vessel to conduct the gas test prior to manway opening. Upon entry, the vessel’s internal conditions may include sludge, oily deposits, toxic and hazardous gases, and displaced structural or mechanical components. In addition to gas testing, the robot should capture images, videos, and 3D mapping of the vessel’s internal condition to provide comprehensive insights.
