Thru-tubing casing and cement evaluation
Problem statement:
The challenge is two-fold:
1) A thru-tubing casing logging tool capable of detecting pitting corrosion on the internal 9-5/8” casing without retrieving the 4.5” tubing.
2) A thru-tubing cement bond log tool that can evaluate cement quality behind the 9-5/8” casing, also without retrieving the 4.5” tubing.
Expected Outcome:
1) The casing logging tool must provide 360-degree azimuthal corrosion mapping and detect pitting corrosion as small as 4 mm in diameter. Current industry-standard electromagnetic imaging tools typically offer only average circumferential wall loss data.
2) The thru-tubing cement bond log must deliver results comparable in quality to those obtained from conventional casing CBL tools. Note: Some NOC completions include up to seven control lines, which may pose an obstruction to these logging operations.
