Challenge Overview
Process EngineeringProcess EquipmentCCUS
Description

Looking for a cost effective solution to capture CO2 from a small scale flue gas stream.

Origin of the CO2: Accompanied natural gas from a geothermal process that is used in a combined heat and power unit (gas engine) resulting in flue gas. The flue gas consists of 73-75% N2, 8-10% CO2, 3-5% O2, 10-12% water vapour and some trace elements. Input of natural gas into the CHP unit is ranging from 100-400 normal meter cubes (Nm3) per hour.

Limitations: Building space is limited as these projects would be situated close to the build environment (cities).
The amount of surface area required is limited and also the there are limitations to the height of the CCS capturing unit.
Noise pollution is also a challenge in the build environment and the product should adhere to governmental requirements.
