Inspections for HVDC offshore platforms

Task: Inspections for HVDC offshore platforms are necessary in a regular basis. 

Challenges:

• The inspections are mostly visual which include the reading meters and value recording, etc.
• Inspections for offshore platform are currently being done according to schedules by humans, which is very costly
• We have already tested robotic inspection (e.g. robodogs) and find it unsatisfactory, as we encounter the following challenges:
  • The platforms are designed for human inspection not for robots. E.g. the design of our platforms includes several floors, which are connected by staircases
  • The design of our platforms includes various types of doors, some of which are fire protection doors, hard for Robots to open
  • The WiFi coverage is varying between the areas and not given throughout the whole platform
  • We put a strong emphasis on security, which requires:
    • Safe operation of autonomous or remote-controlled devices and any time
    • Secured access to autonomous or remote-controlled devices
    • Secured data transmission from device to onshore operator

Solution requirement: Which technology or any combination of technical solutions can efficiently help with the inspection tasks?
