Enhancing Key Completion Technologies: To address the challenges of maturing offshore basins and increasing water cut

Challenge Overview
Well ConstructionWell OperationsProduction TechnologyControl System/EquipmentChemicalOil
Description

A significant number of wells or strings are experiencing high water cut, and certain strings or wells have been shut-in due to lift complications. Particularly, short strings in dual oil producers are affected as coiled tubing interventions are not feasible.

Exploring the use of chemical water shut-off could aid in reducing water production, especially in wells where mechanical shut-off is not an option. This approach has the potential to decrease water production by approximately 5-10%, thereby lowering operational expenses. Moreover, a successful pilot could contribute to prolonging the lifespan of the well.

We are seeking a solution to manage the increasing water cut from both a completion design perspective and through control/mitigation and shut-off strategies. This is in line with our goal to enhance key completion technologies to tackle the challenges posed by maturing offshore basins and the rise in water cut.
