Downhole Sand Control

Challenge Overview
Well OperationsProduction TechnologySand and Solids ManagementOilGas/LNG
Description

Sand production is one of the major contributors linked to global production deferment across all operators and if not detected and responded with the correct measures, can cause major upsets if carried over into non solids tolerant production facilities leading to LoC (loss of containment). Sand control failures typically either happen during early life (infant failures due to operational installation issues or wrong design), wells being pushed beyond design life, water break through (solids being pulled into the wellbore) or if the well is operated outside the safe operating window (exceeding erosional limits or well sanding up).

In support of building a global overview of current and novel sand remediation technology across all vendors we are looking for technologies that could address/cover the following:

1. Perform diagnostics to determine root cause and/or pinpoint downhole location of solids production or screen failure.

2. Standardized retrofit sand remediation solutions (both mechanical and chemical) which can be installed with minimal footprint (preference e-line or slickline).

3. Insert screen systems currently commercially available.

4. Sand consolidation systems currently commercially available.

5. Novel/upcoming sand remediation technologies (which provide zonal isolation or selectively isolate section of failed downhole sand screen).
